What is the software of choice for diagnosing BMW? I realize that people have different needs so here I will enumerate three bmw diagnostic tools to offer reference for you.

  • EDIABAS can accomplish virtually any programming/diagnostic or coding function, but since it is only a computer protocol, requires seperate programs to interface between the user and EDIABAS so that it can receive and trasmit instructions. For example INPA communicates with EDIABAS to perform diagnostics, NCS to perform coding and NFS to perform programming functions. NCS and NFS are not particularly user-friendly and require fairly intimate knowledge of BMW systems to use. If used incorrectly, programs which communicate via EDIABAS have the potential to destroy computer modules, making replacement the only viable option.

SUBARU FreeSSM V1.2.5 OBD2 Cable diagnostic tool software installation

This is the instruction on how to install / make the SUBARU FreeSSM V1.2.5 software and OBD2 diagnostic Cable work.


Operating system:
Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7

English, German


Steps to make the software and adapter work
Step 1 – Plug in your SUBARU OBD2 Cable, let your computer find the drivers automatically.
If not the cables usually come with a CD with the drivers, use this.
If not do some searching on the internet.
It really depends on which cable you get.
Ps. The OBDII cable from uobd2 required no setup, plugged in, found, done. Works on Windows XP, Vista and 7 OS.
Step 2 – Install the software
On the main screen go to Preferences
On the drop down: Serial Port
Select which COM port your adapter is on
If you have no idea with I am talking about:
On your keyboard hold the windows button and push Pause/Break
Click Device Manager
Select Ports (COM & LPT)
Your adapter should be listed here
Right click the adapter, select Properties
Under Port Settings, Advanced you can see which port it is on, you can change this to another # if you want.
This path may be different depending on which OS you use.
Step 3 – Plug into the OBD II connector with the key on and “Test Diagnostic Interface” under Preferences.
If it all checks out you are good to go.

How to use xhorse VVDI2 for remote frequency test

Remote frequency test for Xhorse vvdi2 key programmer is a very useful function. Remote key’s frequency can be auto detected by VVDI2 from main device.


  1. connect the VVDI2 tool to PC,press and hold ‘F’ button on vvdi2 (frequency), place remote key on check area and use any button on your remote key
  2. FSK calibration with 315 MHZ frequency keys, recommend key number: 8T0xx754C or 8T0xx754J

3.After FSK calibration ok, will auto show you ASK calibration, with VW 434.42MHZ for ASK calibration, recommend key number: 1K0959753N

I have x-100 pro and it’s nowhere near as good as SKP900, also Tango in my opinion is much better for off car programming. SKP900 has very good OBD coverage especially American cars. Tango is superb for all difficult and on the bench. Moreover Tango is very good at EEPROM Applications.

There is no a perfect key programmer that can do all car keys in all occasions. But you can find a better one which is good and useful for your own usage. Hope this blog helps.

Found lots of threads about BMW changing miles to km. Here i would share my experience of odometer programming.
I did a few changes on my Z4, M3 and X3 through ICOM A2 emulator running with NCS Expert.
Worked great!
I did on the Z4:
– open/closing Top with key
– Open/closing top doesn’t stop when start driving
– disabled belt beep.
– blinking lock/ unlock car
– LED in mirror
– disable Miami setting (locks close when faster than 15 km/h)
– full moon brake light when hard braking
– Brake-Force-Light. third brake light flashes when ABS kicks in.
As I remember there was a setting for miles and km/h. I need to check the SW_PSW.trc file.. I might have it in an old email

To think that most garages charge $400.00 just to scan my car, at the price I can scan my car and do much more job with this intelligent diagnostic equipment.

Next I will share my experience with you:
This tool should be activated before using, so you should input activation code, product serial number, nickname, login account (email address or cell phone number is OK) and password to activate it.
Note: each device has a serial number and activation code, like this:
Then the system will then save it and the diagnostic application will start after activation, you need to study these function for some time.

And I find an interesting function–-remote diagnosis
I no longer have to worry about how to operate, once I encounter problems and not able to solve them, I can open this application and ask for remote assistance.
If you need to use this, you should click Remote Diagnosis and open the TeamViewer interface. Generate and display device ID. Notice that your partner will also need to download and install TeamViewer. Finally inform your partner of your TeamViewer ID and password to enable them to begin remote access of X-100 PAD.

A summary, I am satisfied with this X100 PAD diagnostic tool, it helps me a lot on mileage adjustment oil reset, thanks it!

Copy 46 chip with SKP900 key Programmer and 46/4D/48 Adapter

SKP-900 Key Programmer is Hand-held OBD2 car key programmer support almost all cars in the world. Here is the instruction on how to copy 46 chip with SKP900 and 46/4D/48 adapter, hope it helps.

  1. ConnectSKP-900 and 46/4D/48 adapter.

Plug the SKP-900 key programmer into the vehicle OBD socket.
That’s preparation to copy the original car keys and 46 chips.

  1. Choose Special features into the SKP-900 -> chip key copy-> 46 chip copy, which has four options, according to the order entered were 1-2-3-4.
  2. Firstly enter 1 and read original key ID, then place the original key near the adapter and press [YES], the original key ID will be read.

Note: If reading error, check if the key chip is 46, or adjust the position of the key and reading coil, and re-read the key ID. After reading key ID, press [NO] to return.

  1. Enter 2 to get collector information: place the collector already with collected data near reading coil (refer to the user manual for the collector user manual), press [YES] to go on. At this situation, the collector data indicator (green) will flash, the screen displays the collector data. Then press [NO] to return.
  2. Enter 3 and decode original chip, press [YES] to continue. The screen will display: working, please wait… It normally takes about 5-30 seconds. (Need about 4 minutes in some case). If the decoding failed, please re-collecting data and re-do step 3 and step 4. If the decoding successes, please press NO to return.
  3. Enter 4 and create clone chip, place the copy-able 46 chip near the reading coil, press [YES] to continue, copy successes 1 second later; if not, please adjust the position of the coil and chip, or replace the chip can be copied.
